The season of sparkle is on its way and there aren’t many places more sequined than at a theatre’s pantomime perfomance.  Making sure their seasonal offering is glittered with stars is Lincoln’s New Theatre Royal which has announced its biggest celebrity cast to date.

Cinderella, running from Tuesday, December 6th, 2022 until Sunday, January 8th, 2023, will see TV personality Kerry Katona and comedian Patrick Monahan take to the stage as Ugly Sister Botox and Buttons.

Not content with just one famous face playing the role of the Fairy Godfather, NTR have lined up to household names to take on the role.  From December 6th to 24th, Jake Quickenden is returning to the city theatre where he proved a hit last year portraying Flash Hugo in Beauty and the Beast.  And from December 26th to January 8th, the character will be taken on by Strictly Come Dancing’s Ian Waite.

Jake, originally from Scunthorpe, says, “I’m so excited to be back in Lincoln. Last year was amazing and the crowds were incredible. It’s one big family at the theatre too, so when the opportunity came round to perform in Lincoln again, I jumped straight on it, it feels like my hometown, and I can’t wait to get started.”

And the X-Factor star isn’t wrong when he suggests it’s a family affair.  Not only is Kerry Katona being joined on stage by her daughter Lilly McFadden who will be Baby Botox but NTR’s own artistic director, Natalie Hayes-Cowley will star as Ugly Sister Filler, alongside her daughters Georgia and Charlotte who are featuring as Cinderella and Baby Filler.

Natalie Hayes-Cowley, who is also the show’s writer and producer, is returning to the stage after a six-year break from performing, since taking the reins at the theatre in 2016 with her husband. “It feels strange to be performing instead of directing this year, but I can’t wait,” she says.

“I love creating shows and I’m proud that we have produced 30 in-house productions here at the theatre since 2016, but I’ve missed performing and wanted to scratch that itch this year.  And Cinderella will be all the more special as I’ll be performing alongside my two daughters, something I haven’t done since 2011 when they performed with me in a Christmas Carol here at the theatre, and I know Kerry is equally thrilled to be performing with Lilly too.

“This show will be an absolute belter with something for everyone, young and old!”

Wrapping up the cast are Arran Wilson as the Wicked Stepmother, who starred as Bagheera in NTR’s The Jungle Book (2022), Jack Barnard as Prince Charming and Dan Badrick as Dandini, who are both new to the NTR stage.

A signed performance will take place on Sunday, December 11th, at 2pm and a relaxed performance will take place on Sunday, January 11th, at 6pm.
