Step into the National Civil War Centre for a vibrant pop-up book market and discover a wonderful variety of books for children, teens, and young adults. Meet local authors, get your new books signed and enjoy some fun literary activities for free!
Want to kick-start your summer reading? Join Ally Pally Arts in sowing stories and harvesting happy endings to launch the 2025 Summer Reading Challenge at Newark Library.
Visit The Zone, an award-winning youth space for 11 to 18-year-olds, including gaming activities, high-energy workshops with pro artists, party games and book corners in Newark Market Place.
For younger children, three magical Bookbench Storytimes with Emma Oldham, Nicky Rafferty and the NBF Young Ambassadors will enchant you with myths, fairy tales, whales and dragons!
To enjoy even more fairy tale fun, don’t miss the Inspire Newark Buttermarket on Saturday, July 12th for a chance to meet Sapphire the Dragon and her friend Sparky, make your own fire-breathing paper dragon, doodle some dragon cartoons, write a poem, or create your own dragon puppet and fairy tale tower or castle to take home!
Have a go at making a rap with Rap School artist Rob Bradley on Sunday, July 13th in Newark Town Hall and for schools don’t miss out on the schools’ day featuring Luke Palmer, Michelle Harrison and Philippa Leathley on Thursday, July 10th.
Wander around 60 stalls in the Literature Village, explore the Children’s Zone and look out for roaming street performers along the way or try your hand at painting and get creative with Urban Canvas’s En Plein Aire Art Club – whatever your passion, get stuck into some free family fun at Newark Book Festival 2025.
